2015 President's Message

January 2015

As your incoming President, I want to thank you for your vote of confidence in me as President of HR Tampa. I look forward to meeting you throughout the year and hearing your ideas and feedback. Having served as the co-chair of Membership for several years, I learned that this chapter is a melting pot of great ideas from other SHRM chapters near and far. I want to take advantage of this to grow HR Tampa in membership size and member offerings! We received a lot of fabulous Bright Ideas and look forward to sharing them with you over the next several weeks!

For those of you that I have yet to meet, you will quickly learn that I believe networking is critical to our professional development. Plan to see opportunities to network in a variety of ways this year, including volunteering with other members, at more HR Tampa-endorsed events, participating in smaller groups created with a particular function or industry in mind, and representing HR Tampa at a Day in the Hill and HR Florida. We will also have several mixers with our sister chapters including Sarasota, Suncoast HR and NAAAHR.

A few important reminders:

January 21 is our first chapter meeting of 2015. It is an EVENING meeting.

Take advantage of early-bird rates for Premium Membership if you renew by January 31, 2015.

Save the Date: HR Tampa Expo is October 21 at the USF Marshall Student Center

Like us at Face Book and LinkedIn - to see pictures of HR Tampa in the community, stay up to date on happenings around town and connect with your peers. (AKA - Networking!)

I'm honored to represent you and our chapter and welcome your ideas on how we can grow our chapter, develop our members and better serve our the greater Tampa Bay businesses and community. My direct contact information is on our Board of Director's tab or you can message me through LinkedIn.

My best,

Melissa Robinson, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

The January Challenge: When was the last time, you tried something for the first time? (Thank you Temika Kitchen for asking me this question!) See my answer on HR Tampa's LinkedIn group page!
