HR Tampa Joins U.S. Chamber of Commerce “Hiring our Heroes” Career Fair

HR Tampa Joins U.S. Chamber of Commerce

“Hiring our Heroes” Career Fair

On behalf of HR Tampa, several volunteers recently provided “ground support” for the recently held Hiring our Heroes’ event sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on April 17, 2015 held at the Ramada Inn-Westshore.

The responsibility of each volunteer was to represent HR Tampa’s Workforce Committee as part of the recently launched Veteran Initiative 2015 and to provide in-person assistance to the 180 registered veterans.  This one-stop opportunity for veterans looking for employment was significantly helpful in areas of resume review, interview etiquette, the application process, to name a few.  HR professionals were in full force to answer any questions from veterans or their spouses in an effort to bring a calmness to their fears and address uncertainties regarding how to find a job outside of the military.

As a result, I would like to share a few comments received over the weekend from the sponsors of this event…

“I cannot thank you enough for the tremendous support you and your volunteers provided last week at the Tampa HOH event. Literally, to have 15 to 20 volunteers on the ground for the entire event was a huge help!

Ernie Lombardi, Senior Event Planner, Southeast Region,

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Washington, DC

“I wanted to take a moment to thank you personally for mobilizing such a big team at the event on last week. We helped a total of 70 people! I really appreciate all of your help with this. Resume review is a huge part of these events. These sessions give the service members an opportunity to work with experts and gain more tools and skills needed to succeed.”

Selyna K. Buie, Outreach Programs Coordinator, Hiring Our Heroes,

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Washington, DC
