May is Mental Health Awareness month!

As HR professionals, we have the ability to use our position to influence not only policies, but the way employees and leaders in our organizations view and treat people suffering from mental health issues. May is mental health awareness month and we are highlighting the program Stigma Free Florida. Stigma Free Florida is a grassroots campaign targeting influential leaders in the business community and engaging them in a public awareness campaign to reduce the stigma around mental illness.

The campaign is a partnership between NAMI Florida, the state‚Äôs largest grassroots organization for individuals and families facing mental health challenges, and the HR Florida State Council, an affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management.  This program includes a company/leader pledge, fact sheets, as well as easy to use toolkits and tips for employees and managers.  If you help one person in the process, it's worth it!
