HR Tampa 2018 Professional Development! Enhancing YOUR Professional Brand

As members of the HR Tampa Association, there are exceptional opportunities that support ongoing professional development whether you are seeking some competency awareness, skill development, or strategic practices meant to design culture and empower employees. From monthly speakers who provide legal, tactical, and business discussions, to the one-day powerhouse HR Tampa Conference & Expo, to the camaraderie of meeting with peers and learning at the HR Florida Conference. As SHRM members, committed to developing exceptional business skills, HR Tampa provides the environment to develop talent, network with HR professionals, and even meet exceptional vendors/resources who become long-term business partners. The opportunities are exceptional for those who take advantage.
For this upcoming year, Certification is offering new programs for all levels of experience. There is a program available for all! In January, a final plan will be designed and communicated. For now, here are some highlights.
First, we are looking for facilitators and administrators to help plan, market, facilitate, create online materials…. Be Active, Be Engaged, Share the Knowledge. Second, we are looking for learners who want to enhance their own skills, talents, competencies!!
4 Seasons, 4 Certification Options:
SHRM-SCP/CP Prep Course (Winter, February start) – Using the SHRM Learning System, this 10-week certification prep course will be offered in the evenings as well, with one Saturday Crash Course. This program is perfect for the experienced HR professional who wants to apply HR competency concepts to business planning. It is also appropriate for those seeking the SCP or CP certification from SHRM.
SHRM Essentials (Spring, May start) – For the newer HR professional, for college students seeking an understanding of HR principles, and for all supervisors and managers who could benefit from understanding and applying HR practices (hiring, interviewing, training and development, employment law, and more). Offer this program to leaders who are expected to engage, inspire and motivate, and who understand the importance of their role in these outcomes. This five-week program will meet one evening a week (2.5 hrs/night). Attendees who successfully complete this program will receive a SHRM HR Essentials certification.
HR Coaching for Excellence (Summer/Fall; May start) – This six-month program brings coaching skills to supervisors and HR professionals. Meeting one Saturday morning every month, participants will learn coaching skills and will then apply these talents over the month with the goal of enhancing employee relations, productivity, self-awareness, and business results while building trust through relationship development. This program is designed for any professional who is seeking to understand human motivation and enhance interpersonal, intrapersonal, team and organizational relationships.
PHR/SPHR Prep Course (Fall; September start) - Using the All in One PHR/SPHR HR Certification Exam Guide, this 10-week certification prep course will be offered in the evenings as well, with one Saturday Crash Course offered at the end to recap the materials. This program is perfect for the experienced HR professional who wants to earn PHR/SPHR certification, and for those seeking a deeper understand of the knowledge needed to excel in HR roles.
Seeking to move your credibility from tactical to strategic? We have an option for you!!! HR Strategy Roundtable – Meeting each quarter, roundtable participants will share and learn best practices through peer discussions, while being introduced to research relating to exceptional HR practices, competencies, and strategies. Limited seats available; meeting one evening/quarter. This program is recommended for experienced practitioners who strive to enhance business acumen with organizational development, human behavior, and culture design strategies.

HR Tampa's Student Chapter held their holiday party at T. Pepin Hospitality Centre on Tuesday, December 19. We're excited for the opportunities ahead for our students.
Do you have a desire to get involved with HR Tampa? HR Tampa's membership has grown so much that we are finding we need additional help on some of our committees in order to meet our goals this year. If you are interested in participating on a committee with HR Tampa, then we want you. We have great opportunities to participate in Social Media, the Expo, and Membership just to name a few.
