Top Employer Health Plan Strategies and Compliance Updates for 2020



 In this presentation participants will learn about national and local market insights and trends surrounding the latest employee benefit strategies for employers, specifically focusing on effective health plan funding, design and engagement. Presenters will also share  the latest updates in national and local compliance changes and new ACA guidance for employers, including HIPAA, ADA, GINA, IRS and other important considerations. Specific material to be covered include:  employee benefit industry trends and employer updates; an explanation of rising medical and pharmacy costs; alternate funding options for cost containment; new self-funding strategies and understanding referenced-based pricing; corporate wellness trends and best practices and compliance updates and ACA changes 


Speakers: Brian McNulty and Scott Segal 




Brian McNulty is the Employee Benefits Practice Leader in the Southeast Region for USI, based in Tampa, FL. The rapidly growing Southeast Region for USI includes offices in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee. He is a leader in the health insurance industry with 27 years of experience in Self-Funded consulting and Fully Insured solutions. His experience includes Employee Benefit Consulting in the middle to large market, running a Third Party Administrator and owning an Insurance Consulting Firm. Mr. McNulty is well versed in providing solutions on issues and concerns that employers have today including Healthcare Reform, strategic design, self-funding, stop loss coverage, stop loss contract negotiation, prescription drug cost containment, compliance, provider network analysis, administration, outsourcing and more. The changing landscape of employee benefits and healthcare reform compliance requires continuous focus on regulation updates, guidance released by HHS and how these impact employers. His continuous contact with Human Resources Professionals, CFO’s and CEO’s enables him to provide a unique perspective on the current trends in employee benefits and insurance program management. 


Scott D. Segal is the USI ERISA and Employee Benefits Counsel for the Southeast Region. He primarily works with the Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Vero Beach and Tampa offices in Florida. He also works with the Birmingham, Alabama, Savannah, Georgia, and Memphis, Tennessee offices as well. Scott started working for USI in January, 2010. Scott assists USI clients with their compliance related issues with respect to their benefit programs. Scott frequently speaks at USI and other HR organizational seminars. Scott also assists drafting alerts and reminders that go out to all USI clients informing them about changes to the law that can affect their employee benefit programs.
