Diversity Update

Ready to get involved?

Wanting to make a difference?

Are you a member of HR Tampa?

2016 is in full swing and we’re excited to report the following upcoming events for you to consider and we’d love for you to join in on all the action.

Monthly Conference Calls – Join us for this strategic event as we recap ongoing diversity efforts with periodic guest speakers.  Easily accessible during morning commute.

MacDill Air Force Shadow Day (Aug) – What an amazing event this will be for those who have always wanted to know what it would be like to experience a day in the life of a soldier.  All guests will spend the day at MacDill and “shadow” a soldier with a power packed day.  Space is limited and filling up fast so let us know if you’re interested.

841st Engineering Battalion Shadow Day (Avon Park, April 2th) – Similar to the MacDill event, this smaller opportunity is coming up fast so let us know if you’d like to go!

HR Florida Council & Paralyzed Veterans of America Resume Assistance – No one can imagine the life-altering affect and sheer difficulty a wounded soldier goes through to ready themselves for re-employment and we are fortunate to have been asked by HR Florida and the PVA to assist them with providing feedback on resumes of veterans ready to return to work.   Resumes have already begun to arrive your experience and expertise is desperately needed.  Please let us know if you can review JUST ONE RESUME and the reward will be wonderful.

Veteran Mentoring Program Under Development - HR Tampa has been asked by MacDill’s Transition Assistance Program (TAP) to assist with mentoring assistance for transitioning veterans leaving the military.  The goal is to provide the TAP Manager with the contact information of HR professionals should any veterans desire to speak with someone to help ease their confusion during their transition to the civilian workplace.

US Chamber of Commerce/Hiring our Heroes Fall Event (Sept) – Tentative arrangements are underway for a possible job fair in Tampa during the month of September.  We look forward to working with Ernie Lombardi and the CC/HH staff as a continuation of 2015 efforts.

Speakers Bureau & Powerpoint Presentation Development – Often times we are asked to speak at a variety of events to promote our efforts and we are currently developing two specific presentations for both the civilian and military communities.  The goal of each presentation is to offer a baseline understanding of military and civilian workplaces in an effort to educate both audiences on the differences and dynamics of each.  If you would like to assist us, or would like to be placed in the Speakers Bureau for upcoming events, we’d enjoy having you join us!
