Important Update:  SHRM Testing Window Date Changes:

As a valued SHRM Partner or Instructor, we were made aware about changes to SHRM’s upcoming spring exam testing window.  To better serve students during this period of uncertainty, SHRM has adjusted the dates of the spring testing and application windows. If students have already scheduled an appointment in this test window, SHRM will reach out to you directly with instructions to reschedule.  Here are the specifics:

  • The spring testing window to take the exam has shifted to June 1 – August 15.
  • The early-bird application deadline has been extended through Friday, April 10.
  • The standard application deadline has been extended through Friday, May 15.
  • Effective June 1, SHRM will offer a remote proctoring option, which provides an opportunity to test from home. Check the website soon for full details, geographic restrictions apply.

THANK YOU SOUTH UNIVERSITY for your continued support of HR Tampa’s Education / Certification initiatives.  The professional space you provide is perfect for our smaller and larger group courses.

CONGRATULATIONS to HR Tampa’s first aPHR graduates.  We had six participants who attended 12 hours of HR learning over 4 weeks.  It was a pleasure to host/facilitate learning to our newer HR professionals:  Adair Thompson, Genna Small, Karen Williams, Katelyn Kasper, Kim Justo-Blank, and Kimise Taylor.  Many of these ladies will be sitting for the aPHR exam in early fall!  Enjoy the learning process.  THANKS also to Gary Grayshaw, SPHR, SHRM-SCP for facilitating with me.

 

THANK YOU – 2019 DONE RIGHT!

The Certification/Education team of HR Tampa offered 5 certification preparation programs in 2019 including the SHRM-CP/SCP Prep Class and Crash Course, the PHR/SPHR Prep Course and Crash Course; and an aPHR Study Group.  These prep classes total 92 hours of classroom work.  Fifty-one (51) members of HR Tampa participated in these courses. 

This level of focus and design/development takes many dedicated volunteers.  Thank you to our classroom facilitators for the SHRM-CP/SCP and PHR/SPHR Prep Courses:  Becki Bellino, SPHR, SHRM-SCP (thebellinoco.com); Chelly Conley, PHR, SHRM-CP; Meghan Deveau, SPHR; Lacee DeMilio, SHRM-CP; Gary Grayshaw, SPHR, SHRM-SCP; Michele Mathews, PHR, SHRM-CP (mathewshrconsulting.com); Liz Magrini, PHR, SHRM-CP.   Your efforts and dedication to the profession, and your time and consideration on behalf of HR Tampa is appreciated.  It has been a fabulous year working with all of you. 

Thanks also to Joseph Heinzman & South University and Ed Siler & Troy University, and Michele Hubert & Empire Underwriters for the space and technology to provide interactive classes. 

IT TAKES A VILLAGE to offer such a wide range of program. 

The courses that were offered last year included a PHR/SPHR Crash Course, SHRM-CP/SCP Crash Course, and aPHR Prep, but we also offered an HR Change Management course and an executive strategic roundtable program.  The goal is to offer a broad range of learning for exceptional professionals at all levels of career.

As members of HR Tampa, there continues to be exceptional opportunities that support ongoing professional development whether you attend the HR Tampa Conference (how great is this each and every year), or you attend the monthly membership meetings, or if you are seeking certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP).  For others, maybe you are seeking coaching skill development or strategic practices meant to design culture and empower employees. 

From monthly speakers who provide legal, tactical, and business discussions, to the one-day powerhouse HR Tampa Expo, to the camaraderie of meeting with peers and learning at the HR Florida Conference – HR Tampa does it well and will continue to offer programs for all levels of competencies.  As SHRM members, committed to developing exceptional business skills, HR Tampa provides the environment to develop talent, network with HR professionals, and even meet exceptional vendors/resources who become long-term business partners.  The opportunities are exceptional for those who take advantage.

February, March, AprilSHRM-CP/SCP Prep Course (10 Wednesday nights).  February 5 to April 8 (6 to 8:30 at South University).  Register NOW for as little as $125 (for HR Tampa members who have 2019 or 2020 SHRM Learning System), or $625 for HR Tampa members (includes 2020 SHRM-CP/SCP Learning System included; online and hard copy materials). Price for non-HR Tampa members is $350 (if you have your own 2019 or 2020 SHRM Learning System) or $925 (includes 2020 SHRM-CP/SCP Learning System; online and hard copy materials).  Please note all prices on the registration page are based on a minimum number of five participants purchasing the SHRM Learning System through HR Tampa.  Register www.hrtampa.org > events > calendar.

AprilSHRM-CP/SCP Crash Course (Saturday, April 18, 8am to 1pm).  This course is for anyone sitting for the SHRM CP/SCP or even the HRCI PHR/SPHR exams in May, Jun, July.  It is also for HR professionals looking for a refresher course.  All materials and light breakfast/snacks will be provided.  Register NOW.  Register through 4/10/19.   $50 for Prep Course Attendees. $150 for those who did not attend the Prep Course.  Register www.hrtampa.org > events > calendar.

April/May - SHRM Essentials™ or aPHR – In conjunction with the HR Tampa College Relations teams, we will offer one of the two courses (based on students’ preference).  This introductory course is for any level supervisor or manager who supports pay, training, recruitment and employee relations processes.  It is also perfect for the newer HR professional and students in HR or management programs.  It offers a comprehensive overview of HR roles and responsibilities.  It provides critical knowledge to help reduce lawsuits and mismanagement, while offering new ways to handle challenging ‘people’ issues in the workplace.  Offer this program to leaders who are expected to engage, inspire and motivate, and who understand the importance of their role in these outcomes.  This four-week program will meet Thursdays in April 23 to May 14 (6 to 8:30 PM).  $400/pp/HR Tampa members; $600/pp/non-HR Tampa members.  Prices are based on a minimum of five participants.

October/November/December - PHR/SPHR Prep Course – 10 Tuesday evenings – October 6 to December 8 (6 to 8:30).  Register NOW for as little as $100 (for HR Tampa members who have PHR/SPHR Learning Materials), or $625 for HR Tampa members (PHR/SPHR Learning System included; online and hard copy materials). Price for non-HR Tampa members is $350 (if you have your own 2019 or 2020 PHR Learning System) or $925 (includes PHR/SPHR Learning System; online and hard copy materials).  Please note all prices are based on a minimum number of five participants purchasing the SHRM Learning System through HR Tampa.

DecemberPHR/SPHR Crash Course (Saturday, December 12, 8am to 1pm).  This course is for anyone sitting for the PHR/SPHR or even the SHRM CP/SCP exams in Dec, Jan, Feb.  It is also for HR professionals looking for a refresher course.  All materials and light breakfast/snacks will be provided.  Register through 12/6/20.
